Fishing Report 5/16/15 Guntersville Lake Alabama

The fish are still running in schools and some days we are seeing a lot of schooling action. They will knock 5″ to 6″ long Shad out of the water and you will see as many as 15 to 20 fish in the schools. The past few days we caught 50 or more each day and if we get around the schools of big fish we will hit 25 lb or better in a matter of minutes. C-rigs, jigs, crankbaits and swimbaits along with spoons are all working well.  The depths vary from day to day. One day they are in 10 to 12 feet and the next day they are in 18 to 20 feet. I am booked for the rest of May, and now booking days into June. Looking ahead to the June bite activity. I anticipate the ledge bite will continue to produce like now. If the shad really come up the bite could move around the grass. This will make for some fun top water action and the jig will be a solid producer flipping the holes and pockets. Hooking an 8 pounder in that deep grass makes for some fun fishing. Call me and lets get your June trip booked. If it continues like March, April and May the Big-G is pulling the bass lovers from all over the country. It has been extremely busy this year. Guntersville continues to produce. It is awesome. Fishing Report update Saturday 5/9/15

My last report was posted 5/3/15. I’m running trips everyday, the fishing report from May 3rd is still the same today a week later. I’ll repost for review now….and add a few comments for the update. Catching fish off of drops on crank baits, Carolina Rigs, Swim baits and jigs in 12 – 20 feet of water. We have hit some really large groups this past week. We will catch 15 – 25 fish in a 30 – 45 minute period then they really slow down. It is just a matter of time through the day another big group will fire back up.  A few days the catching slowed down a bit, but we are still catching a lot of fish, and some really good ones. Current is key to the activity and the last few days they have really not pulled very much water. When the water starts to move again with the current picking back up its lights out and a best five about 25 pounds can be boated in about 30 minutes. Two weeks ago one of my clients caught a 4 pounder and a 3 pounder on the same cast using a crank bait. Here are Fridays results with the guys I had out: Four 20 pound bags caught amongst us. The best 5 fish bag would be pushing 30 pounds. When the water is not moving it gets really slow and we have to work a lot harder to catch a few. Then the water starts to move again and it gets exciting. Get hooked up, pay attention to watching behind your fish as you bring it to...

We will catch 15 – 25 fish in a 30 – 45 minute period then they really slow down. It is just a matter of time through the day another big group will fire back up. The last couple of days the catching has slowed down a bit, but we are still catching a lot of fish, and some really good ones. Current is key to the activity and the last few days they have really not pulled very much water. When the water starts to move again with the current picking back up its lights out and a best five about 25 pounds can be boated in about 30 minutes. Just a few days ago one of my clients caught a 4 pounder and a 3 pounder on the same cast using a crank bait.
